A heart-to-heart word
Restore Us, O God
Psalm 80 is a prayer for restoration. God's people remember Him as their Shepherd—the One who led, protected, and provided for them—and they ask Him to turn their hearts back toward His presence.
“Turn us again to yourself, O God. Make your face shine down upon us. Only then will we be saved.”Psalm 80:3 NLT
01
Call upon the Shepherd who hears.
When we feel lost, wounded, or spiritually distant, our first response should be to call upon our Shepherd. He hears His people and leads them back into the safety of His presence.
02
Remain connected to the true Vine.
Israel is pictured as a vine planted and nurtured by God. Everything fruitful in our lives comes from Him; we cannot separate ourselves from Christ and remain spiritually healthy.
03
Restoration begins with turning.
Three times the chapter asks God to turn His people back to Himself. Their deepest need is not merely improved circumstances, but a restored relationship with God.
From the heart
The RAW Truth: Restoration is not merely God changing what is happening around us; it is God changing what is happening within us. Before asking Him to rebuild the walls around us, we must allow Him to restore the worship within us.
Repent
Recognize where your heart has drifted from God.
Restore
Ask the Lord to revive your relationship with Him.
Rebuild
Remain connected to Christ and allow Him to produce lasting fruit through your life.
Morning prayer: Father, You are our Shepherd, Protector, and Restorer. Turn our hearts back to You. Forgive us where we have wandered or desired Your provision without surrendering to Your authority. Make Your face shine upon us again. Restore what has been damaged, revive what has become dry, and teach us to remain connected to Jesus, the true Vine. In Jesus' name, amen.
